【分述流程 1】In the first stage, eggs are produced by the moth and it takes ten days for each egg to become a silkworm larva that feeds on mulberry leaves. 如圖所示，在天氣寒冷的時候，應該選擇角度比較高屋頂以吸收更多的陽光來增加室內溫度。與此同時，在房間的內層安置保溫材料，用來存貯收集來的熱量。并且要在房屋的外側安裝insulation，來減少熱量的散失。這樣就可以保證盡可能高的室內溫度。

話題：The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.

The diagram illustrates the stages in the life of the salmon, from birth to maturity.

It is clear that there are six* main stages as the salmon develops from egg to mature adult. We can also see that salmon spend time in three distinct locations during the cycle, moving from river to estuary to ocean and then back upstream.

Salmon begin their lives in rivers where the adult fish lay and incubate their eggs. After emerging from eggs, the young salmon spend the next stage of their lives being reared in freshwater areas. Then, at some point in their development, the fish swim downstream to river estuaries where rearing continues.

Following the estuary rearing period, the maturing salmon migrate to the ocean, where they eventually become fully grown adults. Finally, the adult fish travel back upstream to spawning areas of rivers; here they reproduce and lay their eggs, and the life cycle begins anew.

雅思小作文流程圖的寫作技巧及應對策略：

第一，要用好表示順序的連接詞(Sequencing Words)

既然是流程圖，就不可避免的要說明過程的各個步驟和先后順序，在這里，大家要注意幾個詞。例如，表示過程我們通常用“process”或 “procedure”，過程的各個階段和步驟我們可以用“stage”或“step”來描述。在談到第一個步驟時我們可以用連接詞“In the first place”、“To begin with”、“In the first stage”等引出。在進入中間的步驟時可以用“Then”、“Next”、“After this/that”等，最后一個步驟可以用“Finally”或“Lastly”。當然，如果有一些平行的步驟我們也可以用“At the same time”、“Meanwhile”等來引出。

以上這些詞如果用的太頻繁也會使文章顯得較為單調，我們可以使用從句的方法使各個步驟的描寫自然地銜接在一句話中。例如今年1月14日考到的一次流程圖(glass bottle recycling)有一句話就可以這樣寫：

When the cleaning is done, the bottles are conveyed to a glass factory where they are cut into glass pieces which are then poured into a furnace.

上面的句子用了when/where/which三個連詞，就把玻璃瓶回收的三個步驟”cleaning- cutting –heating巧妙地連接在了一起。

第二，要學會使用被動語態

流程圖寫好的第二個關鍵是被動語態的使用。流程圖表現的是客觀的工作流程或事物發展的過程。因此，我們可以盡量避免用“We should/must/need to do sth.”的主動語態，改為“Sth. Should/must/needs to be done”這樣的被動語態。被動語態和情態動詞的恰當搭配，可以使文章顯得更具有客觀、和學術化色彩。前面玻璃瓶回收的例句中，不論是從句還是分句都使用了被動語態。在比如，今年6月24日又考了一道流程圖(cement production)，其中有兩句話可以這樣寫：

The production of cement starts in a mixer, where limestone gravel and sand are converted into a mixture, which is then fed into a crusher. Here the mixture is ground into cement powder, and then is passed through a rotating heater.

上文中用到了convert、feed、grind、pass這四個動詞的過去分詞構造了被動語態，使過程的描寫顯得非常專業。

第三，引言段和結尾段的重要性

在流程圖的引言段和結尾段寫作中可以適當進行過程的階段劃分和總結，使文章的構思上一個層次，擺脫“流水賬”的俗套。例如還是1月14日流程圖，引言段可以這樣寫：

This diagram illustrates the recycling process of glass bottles. The whole process is a cycle which can be divided into three main stages.

再來看一道模擬題，是關于植物的光合作用和人類的呼吸過程，在最后，可以這樣總結：

In summary, plants, humans and animals provide services for each other. Humans and animals need the oxygen that plants produce in order to stay alive. When humans and animals breathe out, they provide the carbon dioxide that plants need in order to survive.

這樣就把兩方面的過程完美地結合在了一起。

第四，要善于“繞開”專業的概念表達

在流程圖中，有時不可避免的會出現一些比較專業的概念，考場上一時想不出對應的英文，這時候要善于利用已知的簡單詞匯，試著把這些“專業” 的概念用簡單的方式表達出來。例如，不知道怎樣表達“房間通風”(ventilation)這個概念，我們可以說“air moving through the house”來說明，不知道怎樣說“斧頭”和“鋸子”(axe and saw)我們就用“special tools”來繞過，雖然不是描述得很準確，但總比不寫或寫錯了要好。
