Sports have become a crucial part of peoples leisure activities and childrens education. However, it is still debatable whether team sports or individual sports are more beneficial. Both views and my opinion will beoutlined in this essay.

Sports played in teams can offer people benefits that are hard to find in other sports. The most obvious one would be teamwork skills which can onlybe learned while working in a team. For instance, it is common to see students playing football after school. No matter how different these students are, they need to try their best to work out the differences and find their way to work together to achieve the same goal-scoring goals. Another advantage of teamsports would be building relationships. This is especially true when entering a new school or workplace. By playing sports like basketball or volleyball,people can soon get to know each other and start bonding, which will make the new environment less scary and more friendly for the newcomers.

On the other hand, the merits offered by individual sports are also irreplaceable. For people who are interested in developing their sports skills, playing individual sports means more time can be spent on practicing, instead of finding ways to better cooperate with their teammates. Besides, for amateurs, individual sports can teach them how to motivate themselves. Especially in sports like swimming and marathon, when people find it hard to insist, they need to find their inner strength and motivate themselves, since there is no encouragement from team members. This kind of intrinsic motivation can be quite useful in real life.
