Students from poor backgrounds such as rural areas often find it difficult to gain access to university education, so people think universities should make it especially easy for them to study at. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

2.題目大意

貧困學生(如農村學生)上大學困難，因而有觀點認為大學應該對這些學生放低入學要求，讓他們可以入學。同意或反對?

3.寫作思路

這道題目包含兩句話，首先明確哪一句是需要同意反對。題目中明確有people think的表達，即people think后頭的內容才是觀點;而前面的上學困難，只是一個背景，無需同意或反對。

有三種回應方式：1)完全同意(主體段全部闡述這樣做的好處);2)完全反對(主體段全部闡述這樣做的好處);3)如果單純討論好壞的內容不足，可以加入一個讓步的內容(即這樣做的好壞都討論，最后得出結論是同意或反對)

審題，找出關鍵詞/限定詞

It is true that students from less developed areas has more difficulty in entering university, which leads to an opinion that the academic institutions should lower the entrance requirement for these applicants, allowing them an easy access to tertiary education. This suggestion might benefit certain groups of students, though, I do not think that increasing the opportunity of higher education has to be at the sacrifice of the scholastic principal.

It is easy to understand why it is argued that students from impoverished areas deserve preferential treatment in the entrance examination to universities. To the advocates of this, they take it for granted that students from regions of underdevelopment are academically inferior to their counterparts in more affluent areas, given the fact that the majority of prestigious schools are concentrated in urban areas. In response to this, to lower the entry threshold for such students could ease their academic shortage and therefore increase their possibility of passing the entrance exam.

Plausible though the argument sounds, I would say that it is irrational to bestow a privilege to certain students to the inequality of others. It is a fallacy that students at a disadvantage should be treated with different standard in competition. To take Olympic games for reference, despite the imbalance between rich and poor countries in their resources in sports, we do not expect to have different judgement criterion based on where the players come from. As well as the rationality, another problem we cannot afford to ignore is the that such a practice would undermine the educational quality: an easy access means some academically unqualified applicants will be given the offer to study the courses that are beyond their capability; I doubt the professionalism and prospects of these graduates.

In conclusion, I am convinced that it is absurd for universities to lower the scholastic requirement of entrance to accommodate less advantaged students.
